When a game is called off, the club tells the families straight away, by email and text, or the way you've chosen. Second parents and guardians are told too.
Who is told
- If you were asked whether your child can play, you're told.
- If the coach hadn't asked yet, every family in the team is told (once the game had been confirmed).
What the message says
The email is titled Called off: {team} v {opposition} — {date}. It, and the text, say:
- which game is off, and when it was due to be;
- why, when the club gives a reason (for example "Racecourse Ground closed: Waterlogged");
- any message from the coach, such as "Training at 10am instead";
- whether a new date is to come.
Your availability answer
You don't need to do anything. The availability request for the game closes, and its link shows "This event has been cancelled — no response is needed." with the reason.
When it's rearranged
The coach will send a new availability request for the new date. If you've added the team calendar to your phone, the called-off game shows as cancelled and the new date appears by itself once it's booked.
